Discovery
Understand the product, buyer, price point, and non-negotiables. Turn that into a written brief.

Tech pack
Materials, dimensions, tolerances, colours, packaging, labelling — the level of detail the factory floor actually needs.

Sampling
Two or three sample rounds with named pass/fail criteria. Physical samples reviewed against the tech pack, not against memory.

Sign-off
Golden sample locked, packaging approved, BOM and cost confirmed — ready for a production PO.

Do you handle industrial design or CAD?
I coordinate with independent ID and CAD partners when needed. For most SKUs, a strong tech pack and factory-side engineering is sufficient.
Can you help protect the design?
Yes — NDAs with factories, staged information release, and (where the budget supports it) design patents or utility model filings in China.
What if the sample keeps failing?
Then it’s usually a brief problem, not a factory problem. We stop, tighten the tech pack, and often switch factories for the next sample round.
